Ahuwhenua Trophy Winner Announced

The announcement was made by the Governor General, Her Excellency, The Rt Hon. Dame Patsy Reddy, at a special awards function held in Christchurch tonight. The function was attended by more 650 people including the Minister for Māori Development, the Hon Nanaia Mahuta, the Associate Minister of Agriculture Hon Meka Whaitiri and other dignitaries representing te ao Māori, central and local government and agribusiness.

Onuku Māori Lands Trust from Rotorua is the winner of the 2018 Ahuwhenua Trophy BNZ Māori Excellence in Farming Award for dairy.

Ahuwhenua Young Māori Farmer Winner 2018

The winner of this years Ahuwhenua Young Māori Farmer Award is twenty six-year-old Harepaora Ngaheu from Te Teko in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

The announcement was made by the Māori Trustee and Chief Executive of Te Tumu Paeroa, Jamie Tuuta at an awards function in Christchurch run as part of the Ahuwhenua Trophy for the top Māori dairy farm. About 650 guests including the Governor General, Minister for Māori Development and the Associate Minister of Agriculture and other dignitaries were present at the function.

2018 Ahuwhenua Young Māori Farmer Award

The finalists in this year's Ahuwhenua Young Māori Farmer Award for Dairy have been announced. The three were selected from a number of entrants around the country.
They are: Mathew Pooley (Ngāi Tahu, Koukourārata), Cheyenne Wilson (Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Arawa) and Harepaora Ngaheu (Ngāti Awa, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui).
